Dear Parents and Students

The purpose of this message is to inform you about the collection of students laptop computer prior to the end of Term 1 for periodic maintenance and software upgrading (as per the Student and Parent Handbook: Information and Communication Technology Agreement - Terms and Conditions 2014, Section 1B).

During the Easter break our IT Staff will reimage each device and it will be migrated across to our new domain. The upgrades will include Windows 8.1 and Microsoft Office 2013 (for those who do not currently have that operating system or software). We aim to achieve completion of this upgrade by the time students return to school on Tuesday 22 April.

The collection of laptop computers is compulsory - ALL students must return their device as outlined below. This even includes the new Dell Venue 11 tablets, as ALL machines will need to be migrated across to the new domain prior to the commencement of Term 2.

Laptop computers need to be handed to the IT Support Staff at Classroom 12 in their carry bag - we do not need you to supply us with the power supply/charger.

Please note that Year 11 and 12 have an earlier hand-in date than Years 7 to 10.

•Year 7 students: Wednesday 2 April before your child leaves school (no later than 4:30pm)

•Year 8 students: Wednesday 2 April before your child leaves school (no later than 4:30pm)

•Year 9 students: Wednesday 2 April before your child leaves school (no later than 4:30pm)

•Year 10 students: Wednesday 2 April before your child leaves school (no later than 4:30pm)

•Year 11 students: Thursday 27 March before your child leaves school (no later than 4:30pm)

•Year 12 students: Thursday 27 March before your child leaves school (no later than 4:30pm)

I highly recommend that a full backup of data and files be made prior to the collection date.

Please note that the IT Staff will not be held responsible for any data lost because no backup was made.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Please feel free to contact me on scowley@bac.qld.edu.au if you have any questions or concerns regarding this process.

Kind regards
